About this site
I live, work, and play in Aromas, CA. A little town where Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties meet. Around Aromas is my field guide to what's worth doing within about an hour of this wonderful little town.
Full disclosure: most of my days are spent on my ranch here in town, not out making every drive in these guides. This is a research project as much as a travel diary. What I can promise is the checking. Every listing gets verified against the venue or organizer before it's published, and when I know a place firsthand, like the Grill right here in town, I say so.
How the guides stay honest
- Every event has a source. Each listing links to the venue or organizer and carries the date it was last verified. If a date can't be confirmed against its source, it doesn't get published. No guesses, no extrapolated dates.
- Nothing stale can ship. The site rebuilds itself every night. Expired events are pruned automatically, so the page reflects the current calendar rather than the month it was written.
- Photos are credited per-work. Third-party photographs are Creative Commons works from Wikimedia Commons contributors, each credited on the photo credits page.
- No ads, ever. The site is non-commercial. No sponsors, no affiliate links, no payment for placement. Nothing here is listed because somebody paid for it.
