Around Aromas is a personal, non-commercial field guide. It is built to collect as little about you as possible: there are no accounts and no advertising. The one form on the site is the optional weekly-email signup, described below.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you, unless you choose to give an email address for the weekly email (see below). The site has no login, asks for no other personal information, and never sells or shares data. We don't build a profile of you.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies and uses no cross-site trackers. Nothing is stored on your device to follow you between visits or across other websites.

Analytics

To understand which guides are useful and whether pages load quickly, the site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. Both are privacy-friendly and cookieless: they count page views and measure loading performance in aggregate, without cookies, without a persistent identifier, and without tracking you across other sites. There is no advertising and no profiling. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.

Third-party services

When a page loads, your browser contacts a few outside services that are needed to display it. As part of any normal web request, those services can see your IP address and browser type:

• Vercel: hosts the site; standard server logs (IP address, user agent) apply. Privacy policy.
• Open-Meteo: the "things to do" guide reads the weather from Open-Meteo for a fixed point in Aromas (not your location; see below). Open-Meteo.com.
• Apple iTunes: on the concerts guide, 30-second song previews stream from Apple when you press play, so Apple receives the request at that moment. Previews are provided courtesy of iTunes.

The site's typefaces are served from aroundaromas.com itself; no font service is contacted.

The weekly email

Each guide's footer has an optional signup for the free weekly email. If you enter your address, it goes to Buttondown, the email service that stores the list and sends the email; Buttondown sends you a confirmation message first and adds you only after you click it. We see your address and the dates you joined or left, nothing else. We never sell, rent, or share the list, and every email carries an unsubscribe link that removes you at once. Your location

The site never asks for your device location. The weather shown in the "things to do" guide is for Aromas specifically, using fixed coordinates, and it does not read where you are.

Children

Around Aromas is a general-audience guide and is not directed at children, and it knowingly collects no personal information from anyone.
