The existing guides are strong on conventional destinations and weak on unconventional access. They covered the coast, the museums, the polished dinners, the wineries and the concerts — but skipped the working studios, the spectator culture, the public-science nights, and the whole inland corridor east and southeast of home. And the single best “nobody would think to search for that” discovery is Twilight Cycling at Laguna Seca — riding the racecourse, Corkscrew and all, for about ten dollars.
